Kim Young Homewood

    A memorial service for Kim Young Homewood will be held at Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church, 75 Fairpoint Drive, Gulf Breeze, FL 32561at 2 p.m. on Monday with a reception immediately following.  Rev. Lester Spencer, Rev. Ruth Knights and Rev. Mack Strange will officiate.

    Mrs. Homewood, 47, died peacefully at home on 30 June 2013.  Born 27 February 1966 in Meridian, Kim attended Meridian High School and received her MBA from Mississippi State University. Kim worked for Shell Oil in Houston and London, England and she took full advantage of the opportunities to travel that her job provided; meeting her husband-to-be Steve in San Francisco in 2000.  Following their wedding in Fiji in 2001, Kim stopped working to focus her energy on family; giving birth to Kyla in 2002, Kett in 2003 and Kendal in 2005.  Kim will be remembered for her abiding faith and love of family, her devotion to her children, and for the inspiring courage, humor and grace with which she fought cancer six times.

    Survivors include husband, Steve and children, Kyla, Kett and Kendal; mother Christine Riley of Meridian; sister, Amanda McBrayer (Mark) and nieces, Avery and Alyse McBrayer of Huntsville, Ala.; mother and father-in-law, Wendy and Ken Homewood; sisters-in-law, Mandy Chilvers (Paul) and Debbie Homewood; niece and nephew, Katy and Christopher Chilvers all of King’s Lynn, Norfolk, United Kingdom; step-sister, Beth Canzoneri of Moscow, Idaho; step-brother, Gail Riley (Moira) of El Cerrito, Calif. and step-sister, Harriet Riley (Greg Browne) of Houston, Texas.

    Kim is preceded in death by her father, James Terrell Young and her step-father William G. Riley.

    In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Children’s Ministry – Scholarships, Gulf Breeze United Methodist Church.
