A news release issued last week states that Vital Care, already accredited through PCAB for its Compounding Pharmacy and ACHC for its Home Infusion, Specialty Pharmacy and DME pharmacy, is thrilled to add the URAC Accreditation making Vital Care the first pharmacy located in the Southeast to have all 3 accreditations.

“We see the importance in measuring our standard practices and aligning with the national standards,” stated Sedji Doxey, RPH, and director of specialty operations.

URAC is a Washington, DC-based health care accrediting organization that establishes quality standards for the health care industry. Organizations achieving accreditation distinguish themselves by demonstrating their commitment to quality, transparency, and efficiency — strengths viewed by many with a critical eye in today’s health care environment. Employers, health plans, prescribers, and PBMs (Pharmacy Benefit Management) ask for accreditation as a means to validate an organization’s excellence in quality and patient management. Organizations meeting URAC’s Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation set themselves apart in a highly competitive marketplace as achieving best practices for managing complex medication therapies and patient management, thus assuring appropriate management of costly medication treatments.

“By applying for and receiving URAC Specialty Pharmacy Accreditation, Vital Care Rx has demonstrated a commitment to quality health care,” said Alan P. Spielman, URAC president and CEO. “Quality health care is crucial to our nation’s welfare and it is important to have organizations that are willing to measure themselves against national standards.”

URAC, an independent, nonprofit organization, is a leader in promoting health care quality through accreditation and certification programs. URAC’s standards keep pace with the rapid changes in the health care system, and provide a mark of distinction for health care organizations to demonstrate their commitment to quality and accountability. Through its broad-based governance structure and an inclusive standards development process, URAC ensures that all stakeholders are represented in setting meaningful standards for the health care industry.
