    6-8 p.m. – Women Who Win. A non denominational group of women will hold their fall session at the Lauderdale Baptist Association located at 5521 Clinton St., in Marion. $10 registration fee includes dinner. Saturday, Oct. 13

    11 a.m.  to 2 p.m. – Suqualena Volunteer Fire Department will hold its annual fish fry on Saturday Oct. 13th from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. Plates consisting of catfish filets, fries, slaw and hushpuppies will be $7 each. Chicken will be available for those who do not like fish. The fire station is located at the corner of Highway 19 North and Highway 494. Proceeds will go toward purchasing equipment.

William John Dowdle and Catherine Pace Dowdle are invited to attend the 19th annual Dowdle Reunion at Lucern Clubhouse in Union. Come early and bring a dish for the noon luncheon. A business meeting will follow the meal.

    10:45 a.m. – Trinity Assembly of God invites the public to a series of meetings and messages from Prophet Glenn Miller Oct. 14-17 at 10:45 a.m. on Sunday, and again at 6 p.m. The event will begin at 7 p.m. nightly after that.

Saturday, Oct. 20

    8:30 a.m. – Oak Grove M. B. Church in Montrose will host a Breast Cancer Awareness Walk at the church. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. The walk will begin at 9 a.m. Donations accepted in lieu of a registration fee. All funds will be donated for cancer research. All are invited, even if you are not walking, there will be something for you to do. Please come support us, but most of all support this cause.

    9 a.m.-until – “A Day in the Country” will be at Causeyville Volunteer fire department. $500 to be given away. $1 donation per ticket or six tickets for $5. Barbecue plates, homemade cakes, chitterling plates, flea market, crafts, and much more. (601)644-3556. All proceeds go to the volunteer fire department.

    10 a.m. – Walker Chapel will have a fish fry. Plates are $6.50 and includes three pieces of fish, baked beans, cole slaw or potato salad, and a slice of cake. 601-938-1036.

    12-4 p.m.: “Art for Archer” will take place at Dumont Plaza to raise funds for Archer Maple, a child diagnosed with Peroxisomal Biogenesis Disorder, a rare genetic, metabolic and fatal disorder. The event will feature an arts and crafts sale, kids crafts, art demonstrations, a bounce house, bake sale and raffle prizes. Entry is $5 for adults and $3 for children age 3 and older.

Sunday, Oct. 21

    11 a.m. – Chunky Baptist Church will have their 47th Annual Homecoming led by Guest Minister of Music, T. R. Darsey and Rev. Robert Rowzee.  Lunch will be served following the service.  Everyone is invited to attend.

Monday, Oct. 22

    6-8 p.m. – Free Seminar, “The Role Healthy and Respectful Manhood Plays in Domestic Violence Prevention,”  hosted by Care Lodge Domestic Violence Shelter. The seminar will feature Mr. Tony Porter, co-founder of A CALL TO MEN: The National Association of Men and Women Committed to Ending Violence Against Women, at NorthPark Church, 7770 Highway 39 North in Meridian.
