Services for Virgie Nell Stanford will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m., at Bumpers Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in the Butler City Cemetery with Bumpers Funeral Home of Butler in charge of arrangements.
Ms. Stanford, 87, a resident of Marion, Miss., and former resident of Choctaw County, Ala., died Thursday, Sept. 20, 2012, at Bedford Care Nursing Home in Marion. She was born May 7, 1925 in Crandall, Miss., to Voyd and Ola Todd. Ms. Virgie Nell worked at the Choctaw Drug Store in Butler for many years and retired from the meat market at Piggly Wiggly in Butler.
Survivors include sisters: Eva Carmichael and Viola Williams, both of Meridian; sister-in-law, Donnie Todd of Newton, Miss.; and, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Voyd and Ola Cox Todd; husband, Julian Stanford; son, Rodney Stanford; brothers: Frank Todd and Jimmy Todd; and sister-in-law, Jean Todd.
Pallbearers will be Billy Carmichael, Larry Williams, Terry Williams, Greg Williams, Tony Todd, Kenny Todd, Rodney Todd, Randy McDonald, and Todd Hughes.
Honorary pallbearer is Bruce Todd.
