Andrew and Brenda Sheffield of Collinsville announce the engagement of their daughter, Melyssa Ashley, to Lt. j.g. Ryan Phelan Aldrich, son of Gary and Nina Aldrich of Oak Hills, Va.

    The wedding will be Saturday, Sept. 15, 2012, at 5 p.m., at the U.S Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis, Md.

    Miss Sheffield is the granddaughter of the Rev. and Mrs. Earl J. Sheffield III of Wallisville, Texas, and the late Brenda Campbell of North Vernon, Ind.

    The bride-elect is a 2012 graduate of Meridian Community College, where she received an associate’s degree in nursing. She is also a 2009 graduate of West Lauderdale High School.

    Miss Sheffield is employed as a registered nurse with the Women’s Wellness Institute.

    Mr. Aldrich is the grandson of Warren and Erna Aldrich of Ocala, Fla., and the late Donald and Lillian Phelan of Long Island, N.Y.

    The bridegroom-elect is a 2009 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, where he obtained a degree in mechanical engineering. He is a pilot with the U.S. Navy, stationed at NAS Meridian.  

    A reception will be held at the Naval Marine Corps Memorial Stadium in Annapolis.  

    The couple will reside in Virginia Beach, Va.
