Services for Willie Mae Busby will be held today, at 2 p.m., at Freeman Funeral Home Chapel in Waynesboro with Dr. Steve Smith and Rev. Wayne Meeks officiating. Burial will be in Waynesboro Cemetery with Freeman Funeral Home of Waynesboro in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Busby, 94, a native of Lawrence and resident of Waynesboro, died Tuesday, August 28, 2012, at Wayne General Hospital in Waynesboro. She was married and moved to California where she lived while her husband served in the Navy. They returned to Waynesboro where she worked as a beautician and in the Chancery Clerks office. Later she and her husband owned Busby Gravel Company until his death. She was a long time member of First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday school for the children and played the piano for the same group. She was loved by her family and many in the community.
Survivors include her sister, Carolyn Waller (Curtis) of Waynesboro; five nieces: Kay Campbell (Charlie) of Flora, Celeste Coxwell (John) of Hixson, Tenn., Evelyn Panter of Gainesville, Ga., Martha Waller of Holden Beach, N.C., and Frannie Westrich (Mike) of Largo, Fla.; nephew, Curtis Waller (Kris) of Long Beach; 12 great-nieces and nephews; and, 13 great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ulmer L. Busby Jr.; father, William Marion Beaver; mother, Eula Mae Nelson Beaver; brother, James Cyrus “JC” Beaver; sister, Helen Caffey; and nephew, Richard Caffey.
