The Clarion-Ledger reports Clinton police arrested 31-year-old Ben Tuberville at his home around noon Thursday.

Detective Warren Sullivan says Tuberville allegedly had an explicit exchange with a 15-year-old in late July using a voice text smartphone application.

Sullivan said Tuberville and the teen, who attended school in another district, appear to have only known each other through social media.

If convicted of the misdemeanor charge, Tuberville faces up to $1,000 fine and a year in jail.

It was unclear whether Tuberville has an attorney.
