The 2011 Clarkdale High School graduate set her sights on the big city and hasn’t looked back.
“When the time came, I moved up to New York to pursue my dreams. Now I’m advancing in my career more than some other models, and I refuse to give up and go home,” Ford said.
“Big” small start
At 16, Ford traveled to the Big Apple for a visit with her uncle, Bruce Aust, who introduced her to some influential moguls in the fashion industry. While she was not offered a contract, she
earned her first paycheck from a Camern Marc Valvo sunglasses advertisement.
In the two years following, Ford worked the Mercedes Benz fall and spring shows during Fashion Week, and the professionals she worked with became her family and her mentors, giving her the experience required to pursue a modeling contract.

Just over a year ago, Ford grabbed a one-way flight from Meridian Regional Airport for New York City. Three days later, Katia Sherman, president of MGMT Models, spotted her in the lobby while waiting for an open call audition and offered her a contract on the spot.
Hard work paying off
Since then, Ford has received an unprecedented number of casting calls and job opportunities, sometimes working two or three jobs each day, while going out to multiple casting calls.
Solidifying her presence in the concrete jungle, Ford has successfully rented her first apartment in Brooklyn. While in New York, one can find Ford spending her free time at Dashing Diva, a local spa, or Lavo, a meat-packing district club that is a favorite for locals. When at home in Meridian, her time is dedicated to spending quality time with her friends and family.
As her schedule continues to pick up with, she expects to have less and less downtime, but enjoys new and exciting opportunities that come her way.
When she was expected to be on a flight home for the Fourth of July holiday, Ford was contacted about an eight-page editorial opportunity to be featured in Z!nk magazine, and postponed her travel plans to accommodate the high-fashion publication, which showcases emerging and reinvented talent in the world of international fashion, beauty, design, art and entertainment.
Ford made it home just in time to ring in July 4th with her family, who are very supportive of her career. Ford’s mother, Gayle, commends Hannah on her independence and drive. “I am so proud of my daughter for being who she is and having the courage and passion to step into the unknown and make it as a model in New York,” Gayle Ford said.
“I have and will always support Hannah in anything she does or wants to do because I believe in her with all my heart. As she moves through life, I know she will be successful in anything she does and the reason I know this is because she carries with her the charm and sassiness of a Southern woman: a strong will with a little attitude, passion, determination, and the love and support of her family and friends.”
According to her agent, Ford’s career is on the rise, and great things are expected from the 18 year old. MGMT Models representatives see great potential in Ford, confessing that the agency sees her as becoming the next Gisele, who is a world famous supermodel.
Her achievements speak for ability. Ford has been featured in a Women’s Wear Daily spread, was depicted as a Katherine Hepburn look-a-like in the annual “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” celebration for the New York Post, and has appeared in three separate editorial features for Brides Magazine.
Self-determination, family support
keys to success
Her mother embraces the unique opportunities that are available to Hannah now that she is making her mark in the fashion world, and how much of a natural ability her daughter possesses:
“She has always been a unique and creative person who has no fear,” Gayle said. “She is more comfortable in a pair of stilettos than in a pair of tennis shoes, and always has been.”
Asked what motivates her, Hannah confesses that criticism and disbelief are her drive.
“People who say I can’t make it big or that I’m not good enough, and that gives me the motivation to not only prove the non-believers wrong, but to also prove to myself that I can achieve anything I put my mind and heart to.”
Support from friends and family is also a great inspiration: “I would also have to say the love and the encouragement of my friends and family motivates me – without them life would be tougher for me.”
Ultimately, her childhood dreams of becoming a Victoria’s Secret model continue to push her towards greater success.
“Every time I watch those beautiful women, I get this feeling in my heart that I will be walking along with them down that runway. I’ve had that feeling ever since I was 7 years old. I still have that feeling today, and I always will.”
Ford’s advice for others is to channel the negative and use it to push your dream: “Go for it and never let anyone tell you ‘no.’ It’s your dream and only you can live it,” Ford said. Her personal life motto is that when it comes to big dreams, there are great sacrifices, but in the end, there are greater achievements.”
For now, Ford is focusing on promoting her name and her ability. She dreams of being in every top designers’ fashion shows and to be featured on today’s top magazine covers.
“I want to have the world know who I am,” she said.
