On counts three thru nine (four mail fraud, three false pretense), Odom was sentenced to three years with MDOC, three years suspended and three years supervised probation to run concurrent with count two.
The sentence means the defendant will serve four years in the custody of MDOC, followed by five years of supervised probation. She must also pay full restitution as well as fines and court costs.
At the time of the crimes, Odom was an agent for Colonial Insurance in the Meridian area.
“Our investigation showed this defendant fabricated insurance policies, using both real and fabricated names and addresses, in order to receive commissions from her employer,” said Attorney General Jim Hood.
The case was investigated by Keith Milsap and prosecuted by Special Assistant Attorney General Jim Giddy of the Attorney General’s Public Integrity Division.
