Mr. Deweese, Miss McGinnis

    Mr. and Mrs. James Earl McGinnis III of Meridian announce the engagement of their daughter, Elizabeth Menton, to Matthew Wahrendorff Deweese, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Douglas Deweese of Meridian.

    The wedding will be held Saturday, May 19, 2012, at 6 p.m., at Saint Paul’s Episcopal Church.

    Miss McGinnis is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Miles Shirley Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. James Earl McGinnis Jr., all of Meridian.

    The bride-elect is a graduate of Millsaps College, where she received a bachelor of science degree in psychology, a minor in geology and a concentration in human services. She is also a graduate of Meridian High School.

    While attending Millsaps College, she was a member of Chi Omega fraternity, Psi Chi (psychology honorary), Sigma Gamma Epsilon (geology honorary), Sigma Lambda (service and leadership) and the Canterbury Club.

    Miss McGinnis is employed as a graduate research assistant at the University of Florida, where she earned her master of science degree in psychology in September 2011. She is currently a third-year graduate student in the behavioral and cognitive neurosciences doctoral program.

    Mr. Deweese is the grandson of Mr. Wayne Louis Wahrendorff and the late Mrs. Carmin Wahrendorff, Mrs. Janice Deweese Jones and her husband, Mr. Owen Jones, and the late Mr. Glen Sennett Deweese, all of Meridian.

    The bridegroom-elect is a graduate of Millsaps College, where he received a bachelor of science degree in biology and a minor in the faith and work initiative. He is also a graduate of Meridian High School.

    While attending Millsaps College, he was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity, Beta Beta Beta (biology honorary), the Outdoor Adventure Club and Canterbury Club.

    Mr. Deweese was certified as a registered nurse in October 2010 as part of his advanced nursing program at Vanderbilt University, and graduated with his master of science degree as a nurse practitioner in May 2011. He is currently employed in the emergency department of Shands Hospital at the University of Florida.
