Esther Lou Jenkins

    Esther Lou Jenkins, age 96, passed away April 26, 2012 at Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, Georgia with her family by her side.

    She is preceded in death by her husband, Perry Lamar Jenkins and son, Harold Lamar Jenkins.  Her parents, Luther W. and Mary Frances Napp, three brothers, Robert U. Napp (Lois), Donald W. Napp (Mavis) and Luther W. Napp, Jr. (Boots), two sisters, Dorothy Grisham (Rev. O. F. Grisham) and Unia Mae Napp.

    She is survived by three children, Elsie Jenkins Welborn Cranford (Mikeil) of Gulfport, MS, Cecil Lavelle Jenkins (Carol) of Lakeland, FL and Mary Cathy Jenkins Taylor (Ferris) of Thomasville, GA and daughter-in-law, Lois Jenkins of Jonesboro, GA; two sisters, Margaret Broadhead (Austin) of Meridian, MS and Mary Evelyn Holland (Kenneth) of Lake Charles, LA.  Grandchildren, Dr. Link V. Welborn, Tampa, FL, Elton Coy Welborn II of Alpharetta, GA, Derek Lamar Jenkins and Debra Chaffin of Jonesboro, GA, Wendy Broom of Riverview, GA and Karen St. Germain of St. Petersburg, FL.

    “Granny” as she was affectionately called, was active in Faith Tabernacle Holiness Church and Shady Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church.  She loved everyone she met and they loved her as well.  Everyone talked about her “beautiful” smile that was contagious.

    Esther retired from Vanity Fair Mills where she was a seamstress. Serving her church,  bible reading and prayer was part of her daily life.

    Visitation will be Sunday afternoon, April 29, at Wright’s Funeral Home from 4-6 p.m. and on April 30, from 1-2 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle.  Services will be at 2:00 p.m. at Faith Tabernacle.  Burial will follow in Shady Grove Church Cemetery.
