    Services for Gertie Bea Bateman will be held Thursday, at 10 a.m., at Barham Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Wayne Edwards and Rev. Bill Webb officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens with Barham Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Bateman, 95, of Meridian, died Sunday, April 22, 2012, in D’Iberville. She was a retired nurse aid, loving mother, housewife, avid gardener, caregiver and longtime member of Midway Baptist Church.

    Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Joan and Dr. Billy Wansley of Biloxi; son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Faye Bateman of Meridian; grandchildren: Tina Warren and husband Vince, Bill Wansley Jr. and wife Virginia, and John Wansley, all of Atlanta, Ga., Stacy Bittick, and Curtis Hunter Bateman and wife Katie, all of Meridian; great-grandchildren: Michael Bittick, Rachel Warren, Ana Warren and James “Jimbo” Bateman; sister, Lillie Eatman of Bossier City, La.; and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years, Curtis A. Bateman.

    The family wishes to extend a special thanks to Midway Baptist Church and First Baptist Church of Biloxi.

    Pallbearers will be Clay Bateman Jr., Hunter Bateman, Michael Bittick and John Wansley.

    Honorary pallbearers are her nephews: Harold Bateman, Haskell Bateman, Hershell Bateman and Jerry Smith.

    Visitation will be today, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., at the funeral home.
