Here’s a look at upcoming events at public, private and faith-based schools in Meridian, Lauderdale County and surrounding areas:
• Thursday – Poplar Springs Elementary Math and Language Arts Olympics 9 a.m., fifth grade students
• Thursday – West Hills Elementary MCT2 Easter Egg Hunt, fifth grade students
• Friday-April 9 – Meridian Public School District Spring Recess. All schools and offices will be closed.
• April 10 – Parkview Elementary Graduation Pictures. Graduation pictures will be made for kindergarten and fifth grade students.
• April 10 – Poplar Springs Elementary PTA Meeting, 6 p.m., auditorium
• April 12 – Title I Advisory Council Meeting, from 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.,

• April 12 – West Hills Elementary MCT2 Parent Workshop, from 3:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.
• April 13 – West Hills Elementary Awards Ceremony
• April 13 – Ross Collins students visit MSU Veterinary School. Allied Health II and Health Science I students at Ross Collins will visit MSU Veterinary School for an Open House.
• April 14 – T.J. Harris Elementary Campus Clean Up, from 7:30 a.m.-10:30 a.m.

• Today – Newberry Dedication, 10:30 am, MSU Riley Center for Education and Performing Arts. Reception and open house to follow. Couch Potato to 5K, Mondays April 2, 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 5:45 to 6:45. Wednesdays

Here’s a look at upcoming events at East Central Community College:
• April 11-12 – Senior Days for area high school seniors. Activities begin with registration in Huff Auditorium at 9 a.m. and end with a complimentary lunch at noon. All campus clubs and organizations will have information booths set up in the Brackeen-Wood Physical Education Building and advisors from academic, career, technical and healthcare programs will be available to talk with students.
In addition, students will be entertained by the Collegians rock-n-roll band, Jazz Band, Ac’cents show choir, Centralettes danceline and the Percussion Ensemble.
Schools scheduled to attend on April 11 include Carthage Christian Academy, Grace Christian Academy, Leake Central, Leake County, Louisville, Morton Christian Academy, Nanih Waiya, Neshoba Central, Newton County, Newton County Academy and Noxapater.
Those scheduled to attend on April 12 are seniors from Choctaw Central, Forest, Lake, Leake Academy, Morton, Newton, Philadelphia, Pine Grove Academy, Scott Central, Sebastopol, Union and Winston Academy.

• April 12 –Tryouts for the Centralettes, the danceline for the Wall O’ Sound Marching Band, 3 p.m., in the South Campus Gymnasium.
A mandatory pre-tryout clinic will be held from 5 p.m.-8 pm. on March 22. Only those auditioning may attend tryouts.
All Centralettes receive full tuition scholarships.
