FOREST – Services for Daree Waggoner Lum will be held Thursday, at 3 p.m., at Ott & Lee Funeral Home Chapel of Forest with Rev. Marshall Lum officiating. Burial will be in the Clifton Baptist Cemetery with Ott & Lee Funeral Home of Forest in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Lum, 88, died Monday, Feb. 20, 2012, in Meridian, following an extended illness. She was a native and lifelong resident of Scott County. She was member of Hillsboro Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Lum was a longtime member of the Eastern Star and was the director of nursing at the Scott County Hospital in Morton for over 30 years. She did her nurses training at Mattie Hersee Hospital in Meridian. Her first nursing assignment was at the Queens Hospital in Oahu, Hawaii. While in Oahu, she married her husband. She also worked for Mississippi Home Healthcare for many years.
Survivors include three children: Dr. Rita Lum Wood (John) of Meridian, Donald K. Lum (Genevieve) of Clinton, La., and Jimmy G. Lum of Gautier; a brother-in-law, W.E. Lum (Helen) of Jackson; three grandchildren: Elizabeth Lum, Lauren Lum and Daniel Lum; and, three step-grandchildren: Hank Kratt, Dr. Charlotte Kratt Dean, and John Kratt.
She was preceded in death by her husband, K.B. Lum; and, four brothers: Curtis, Barney, Howard and Sollie.
Visitation will be Thursday, from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., at the funeral home.
