Lauderdale County Coroner Clayton Cobler says Sandra G. Allen, 59, of 4823 Haguewood Road, died shortly after noon.

The crash occurred at about 11:45 a.m. in the 4800 block of Causeyville Road, a half mile south of Camp Meridale. Lauderdale County officials at the scene were examining the Ford Windstar mini van as it rested on the drivers side. According to preliminary accident reports, the vehicle left the roadway as it traveled north, impacted an embankment and flipped into some small trees and a tree stump.

“The information I was given was it appeared the vehicle veered off the roadway as it traveled north, and the driver overcorrected causing the mini van to run off the other side of the road,” says LCSD Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun.

The vehicle hit an embankment, tore down wood poles alongside the road and vaulted into a stand of small trees. The vehicle then impacted an old tree stump before coming to a rest on the drivers side.

Reports say Allen did not appear to have been wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.

Vimville VFD firemen and emergency medical responders were on the scene.
