Here’s a look at upcoming events at Meridian and Lauderdale County public, private and faith-based schools:
• Today – West Hills Elementary Awards Assembly: kindergarten and first grades, 8:30 a.m.; second and third grades, 9:10 a.m.; and fourth and fifth grades, 9:55 a.m.
Students will be recognized for their achievements, including All “A” Honor Roll, A and B Honor Roll, Citizenship and Most Improved.
• Today – Meridian High School College Day, from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., MHS Boys’ Gym.
Students will be able to visit booths of various colleges to learn more about where they may want to attend.
• Today – Parkview Elementary School Red Ribbon Week Assembly, 1 p.m.
• Today – Northeast High School Career and Technical Open House, from 1:30 p.m.-3:30 p.m., Northeast High School /Vocational Department. The event will feature tours of the new STEM, Health Science and Business/Marketing labs.
• Thursday – Ross Collins Child Care, 9 a.m., visit from Mayor Cheri Barry for the Letter of the Week, “M.”
• Thursday – Fall Festival, from 5:30 p.m.-8 p.m., T.J. Harris Elementary School, Upper Gym.
• Thursday – MHS Homecoming Parade, 5:30 p.m., downtown Meridian. Line up at Central Office at 4:30 p.m.; ends at WTOK TV Station with a pep rally and crowning of the Homecoming King.
• Friday – Northwest Middle School Red Ribbon Week Rally, 2 p.m., auditorium. Guest Speaker: Deputy Ricardo Taylor of the Lauderdale County Sheriff Department.
• Oct. 29 – Poplar Springs Elementary PTA’s Fall Festival, from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Activities include: hay ride, petting zoo, games, inflatables, bake sale, cake walk, toy walk, raffle and more.
