Teddy Whittington

    Services for Elstner Deberry “Teddy” Whittington will be Tuesday, October 25, 2011 at 1 p.m. at Stringer Family Chapel. Burial will be in Beauregard Cemetery.

    Mr. Whittington, 85, died October 23, 2011 at Poplar Springs Nursing Center in Meridian.  Mr. Whittington, formerly of Hazlehurst and Wesson, was a member of Poplar Springs Baptist Church in Hazlehurst where he attended faithfully before moving to Meridian.  He served as a deacon and church treasure for many years. PaPaw, as he was lovingly called, will be greatly missed by all his family.

     Mr. Whittington was preceded in death by his wife of 63 years, Monete Hutchins Whittington; parents, A.J. and Robbie Whittington; brother, A.J. Whittington, Jr.; sister, Dorothy Fortenberry; and nephew, A.J. Whittington, III.

     Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Diane and Jim Harris of Meridian; grandchildren, Timmy Harris and wife Misty, Tammy Crowe and husband Mike, Kim Eldridge and husband Tim, all of Meridian and Myers and wife Tonya of Brandon; great grandchildren, Michael Crowe, Cody Crowe, Chase Harris, Allison Harris, Kinley Eldridge and Natalie, all of Meridian.

    Visitation will be Tuesday from 11-1 at Stringer Family Funeral Home in Hazlehurst.

    Pallbearers will be Deacons of Poplar Springs Baptist Church.  A special thanks from his family to his loving and compassionate caregivers at Poplar Springs Nursing Center.
