E. Max Lilly

    Services for E. Max Lilly will be held Tuesday, October 25, 2011, at 10:30 a.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Richie Davis and Brother Jim Meadows officiating. Burial will be in Long Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

    Mr. Lilly, 76, passed away October 22, 2011 at his home in Meridian. He was born June 22, 1935 to Albert and Lois (Enzor) Lilly. He was an active member of Westwood Baptist Church until 3 1/2 years ago when severe health problems rendered him homebound.

    Mr. Lilly loved flying and survived a plane crash years ago while crop dusting.  After the crash he was disabled and went on to obtain a degree in music at Clarke College.  He used his musical talents as the song director at Long Creek Baptist Church for many years.  Mr. Lilly’s greatest passion was sharing his testimony and love of God’s Word through music and teaching.  Next to flying and music he had a great love for traveling. His travels took his many places; among his favorites was a trip that he and his wife Shirley shared to the Holy Land in 2006.

    Mr. Lilly is survived by his wife Shirley of Meridian; children, Max (Butch) Lilly and his wife Dottie of Meridian, Beverly (Sissy) Carlson and husband Bud of Dallas, TX, Curtis (Boo) Lilly and wife Kim of Bellevue, NE, Kathy (Kid) Swain and husband Milton of Little rock, MS, Stanley Reeves and wife SueAnn of Meridian, Rhonda Coffman of Meridian, Monty Reeves and wife Tina of Meridian; Brother, Paul Lilly (Chris)of Meridian; grandchildren, Luke Lilly, Andrew Lilly, Jonathan Lilly, James Lilly, Tammy Watkins, Jennifer Rhodes, James Hall, Jared Hall, Stephanie Smith, Veronica Hood, Tyler Lilly, Lacey Smith, Adrian Reed, Jordan Reed, Christopher Coffman, Justin Coffman, Troy Reeves, Tyler Reeves, Madison Reeves and several great-grandchildren.

    He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Lois Lilly; an infant brother; brother, James Lilly; and his first wife, Dorothy Lilly.

    Pallbearers will be Wayne Coley, Raymond McKinion, R.D. Glenn, Shorty Warren, George Culpeper and Derek Gibson.
