Academic honor society taps MCC students

    Fifty Meridian Community College students were inducted into the Nu Upsilon Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa, the international academic honor society in a ceremony held in the College’s McCain Theater.

     Officers for the academic term were also installed. They include: Chase Cooksey, president; Casey Lewis, vice president of leadership; Chris Kolb, vice president of scholarship; Candy Gibson, vice president of service; Tawny Gavin, vice president of fellowship; Melena Sweeney; Ashley McDonald, reporter/publicity; Sam Butler, webmaster; Heather Alford, Tiphannie Gibson, Hunter Heath, Casey Hudson, Winnie Jones, Jonathan McMillan and Spin Mitchell, executive board members; and Leslie Odom, MS/LA regional vice president.

     PTK promotes leadership, scholarship, service and fellowship. Membership is open to any student who has earned 12 semester hours and has a grade point average of a 3.5 or better on a 4.0 scale.
