David Alison Bailey

Memorial services for David Alison Bailey will be held today at 2:30 p.m. at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home with Elder Jerry Wilkinson officiating.
Mr. Bailey 61, lifetime resident of Bailey, died Friday September 30, 2011 at Anderson Regional Medical Center. He was a sales associate with Long-Lewis Hardware in Birmingham. He was a member of Gum Log Primitive Baptist Church in Bailey.
David was an all around athlete at Meridian High School where he excelled in all sports. He went on to play football for coach Bear Bryant at the University of Alabama where he made all SEC. He was a member of the 1971 SEC championship team.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Karla Billingsley; one son, Nathan Bailey; one daughter Anna (Bill) Whitmire; grandson, William David Whitmire; parents, Leon and Prue Bailey, all of Bailey; and his brother, Leon (Diane) Bailey Jr. of Ripley.
He was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Bailey.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Jack White, Bobby Stanford, Steve Fleming, Steve Parker, Andy Gilley, Danny Ray Joyner and Charlie C. Henderson.

Visitation will be 1 hour prior to service at the funeral home.
