Max Douglas Evans

    Services for Max Douglas Evans will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Barham Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Troy Dew officiating. Burial will be in the Shady Grove Church of God Cemetery in Clarke County. 

    Mr. Evans ,66, of Meridian, passed away Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, at The Oaks Rehabilitation Center in Meridian. He was retired from Peavey Electronics as an engineer. Mr. Evans was a graduate of the University of Southern Mississippi. He was a member of Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church.

    Mr. Evans will be remembered for his love of farming and raising cattle as well as his love for SEC football, an avid Ole Miss fan, a Southern Miss fan as well as a loyal New Orleans Saints fan.

    Mr. Evans is survived by his daughters, Dee Miller and her husband, Michael, of Meridian, and Kim Evans of Brandon; sons, Marcus Evans and his wife, Cena, of Waynesboro and Robert Evans of Long Beach; two  granddaughters, Jancie Jean Evans and Lauryn Michele Blue; three sisters, Doris Long of Quitman, Melba Williams of Tampa, Fla., and Joann Shirley of Causeyville; and one brother, Frankie Evans of Meridian. 

    Pallbearers will be Marcus Evans, Robert Evans, Dusty Culpepper, James Dearman, James Mathis, Billy Mathis, Tommy Smith and Thad Cobb.

    Visitation will be two hours before services at the funeral home.
