The winner of eight Tony Awards and nine Drama Desk Awards delights audiences by sweeping them back to 1960’s Baltimore, where the ’50s are out and change is in the air.

The musical tells the story of pleasantly plump teen Tracy Turnblad and her one desire — to dance on the popular Corny Collins Show. When her dream comes true she is transformed from social outcast to sudden star. She uses her power to vanquish the reigning Teen Queen, win the affections of heartthrob Link Larkin, and integrate a TV network — all without denting her ‘do!

This season’s production is sponsored in part by the Mississippi Arts Commission, the Meridian Council for the Arts, The Riley Foundation, The Phil Hardin Foundation and the Community Foundation of East Mississippi.

Jimmy Pigford is the director of the production, Carol Merrill is the choreographer, David Benson is the music director, Scott Merrill is the producer, Jennifer Jones is assistant director, and Carey Smith is the orchestra conductor.

Tickets are $20 for adults, $18 for senior citizens, military and youth. For more information call the box office at (601) 482-6371 weekdays from 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
