Services for Gary Alford Winstead will be held Wednesday, at 10:30 a.m., at McClain-Hays Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lin Chesney and Bro. David Jay officiating. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery in the House Community of Neshoba County with McClain-Hayes Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Winstead, 76, died Monday, Dec. 27, 2010. He was born on Aug. 2, 1934. He was a native of Neshoba County and a long time resident of the House and Union Communities. Gary had a love for the forest and was a contract logger for over 46 years. He attended County Line Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Perry Winstead of Collierville, Tenn., and Terrell Winstead and his wife, Sandra of Union; five grandchildren: Jonathan Winstead and his wife, Abby, of Sweet Home, Ore., Amber Winstead and Noah Winstead of Union, and Kirby Winstead and Kateyann Winstead of Collierville, Tenn.; one great-grandson, Griffin Winstead of Sweet Home, Ore.; a sister, Janerio (Lorene) Cranage of Union; a brother, C.V. (Chester) Winstead and his wife, Flora of Franklin, Tenn.; a sister-in-law, Thelma Winstead of Dallas, Texas; and, Linda Robinson of Union, his “Special Someone”.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hugh and Essie Winstead; wife, Faye Winstead; a daughter, Barbara Ann Winstead; a sister, Lydia Keen; and brothers: Gervis Winstead, Elton Winstead and Horace Winstead.
Pallbearers will be Uhl Payne, Jeff Winstead, Winfred Keen, Rex Gordon, Charlie Gardner, Rex Germany, David Breland and Robin Williams.
Memorials may be made to the Baptist Children’s Village in Jackson.
Visitation will be held today, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., at McClain-Hays Funeral Home in Philadelphia.
