    Services for Bennie Jeanne Hartzog Harris will be held Saturday, at 11:30 a.m., at Robert Barham Family Funeral Home Chapel with Revs. Mike Russell and Gene Neal officiating. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Harris, 81, of Quitman, died Thursday, Dec. 9, 2010, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She touched the lives of many people during her 81 years. Mrs. Harris worked as a public school teacher for 34 years. She also served in many churches in Lauderdale, Kemper and Clarke counties. One of her favorite areas of service was working with children. She directed or taught vacation Bible School for 52 consecutive years. Even though she was officially retired, she never retired from the Lord’s service as a prayer warrior for her family and countless others. She also led women’s Bible Studies in her home, and started a prayer group at Aldersgate Retirement Community that continues today.

    Survivors include her sons: Harold Harris and his wife, Kathy and Paul Harris and his wife, Melanie; daughter, Virginia (Cissi) Majure and her husband, Stan; nine grandchildren: Eddie Louis and wife, Paula, Nicole Garrard and husband, Shane, Ashley Harris, Kortney Harris, Nathan and Lauren Majure, Jason Harris and wife, Christine, Daniel Harris and Andrew Harris; and, seven great-grandchildren.

    She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Harold B. Harris Jr.; son, Dennis Harris; and, her parents, Howard and Fern Hartzog.

    Donations may be made to the Honduras Forgotten Children Ministries, through her church, First Baptist Church, Quitman.

    Pallbearers will be Nathan Majure, Jason Harris, Eddie Louis, Daniel Harris, Andrew Harris and Carl Graham.
