With great sadness and much love, the family of Elsie Hollingsworth Brandon announce her passing from this life into the hands of our heavenly Father. She was taken from this life on Friday, Nov. 26, 2010, at age 87, at Lake Sherwood Village in Baton Rouge, La. She was born on Jan. 5, 1923, in Amory. She was a resident of Baton Rouge since 2006 and a long time resident of Meridian. She was a member of Highland Baptist Church where she served in many capacities, including the kindergarten program from 1960-70. She retired from J.C. Penney’s in 1988.
Survivors include her daughter, Kathryn Brandon Hendrick of Baton Rouge; a son, Vernon S. “Brad” Brandon II and his wife, Suzanne of Hoschton, Ga.; grandchildren: Renee Cooper Willis and her husband, Bubba, Melissa Cooper Feigley of Baton Rouge, La., and Audra Harris Warhol and her husband, John of Snellville, Ga.; and, three great-grandchildren: Cooper and Beau Willis, and Avery Warhol.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Vernon S. Brandon; her parents, Elbert and Melissa Hollingsworth; brothers: Everett Hollingsworth and Jack Hollingsworth; and, half-brother, Dwight Lancaster.
Pallbearers will be Brad Brandon, Fred Rhodes, Larry Cooper, Roger Harper, Bubba Willis and John Warhol.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Highland Baptist Church or American Cancer Society.
Visitation will be Saturday, from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., at Barham Funeral Home followed by graveside services at 1 p.m., in Magnolia Cemetery.
