I always wondered what would come out of Generation ‘X’ for the local community. You know, those kids that combed the streets on skateboards and bicycles a few years back?
Well the kids grew up, some moved to chase new opportunities, while others stayed behind making their own way.
The Burning Tikiman festival is a product from a radical generation. The man behind the scenes of the yearly attraction is Billy Lyons, a.k.a. Spacey. Lyons is the owner of TNT Tattoo Art Gallery as well as Spacey Tattoo on Eighth Street.
Six years in the making and it is safe to say Tikiman is fastly becoming an annual tradition for many. This year’s line up of musicians and artists is going to be the best yet, according to organizers. Inside the studio, commonly known as the “chill” area, Spacey will be hosting local artist SOG (Stephen Owen Gillespie).
Bring your kids for the costume contest. Oh, please don’t miss the world’s worst tattoo contest outside that night.
All walks of life at any age are invited no matter what your friends may think. Enjoy local food by local vendors while listening to local music. Come. Lose yourself.
