    Betsy Mitchell and Elliot Sanders Brewer were united in holy matrimony on the beautiful summer evening of Saturday, June 5, 2010, at First Baptist Church, Meridian. The Revs. Drs. Kevin Jones and Raymond Leake officiated the candle light ceremony.

    Parents of the couple are Mr. and Mrs. Al Mitchell of Bailey and Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Brewer of Meridian.

    Grandparents of the bride are Mr. and Mrs. Don Hayes of Clarkdale, the late Mr. and Mrs. William Laird Chaney of Little Rock, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Mitchell Jr. of Ward, Ala.

    Grandparents of the bridegroom are Mr. and Mrs. Harmon Dickson of Meridian and the late Mr. and Mrs. Ramos Ferguson of Jackson.

    Music for the ceremony was provided by Barry Germany, pianist; Miriam Chesney, organist; Susie Johnson, flautist; and Ben Johnson, cellist. Vocalists for the ceremony were Abby Scott and Alan Rigdon.

    Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a lace wedding gown with a V-shaped neckline and scalloped edging. A crystal encrusted satin band highlighted the empire waistline. Pearl necklace and earrings, gifts from the bride’s beloved aunt and uncle, complemented the exquisite gown. The bride carried a hand-tied bouquet of white roses.

    Madison Claire Mitchell and Alyson Melissa Mitchell, sisters of the bride, served as maids of honor.

    Bridesmaids were Allison Dallas, Stephanie Jellenc, Kelsey Kern, Laura McKinion, Apryl Null and Leigh Taylor Wamble.

    Mallory Claire Leake, niece of the bridegroom, was flower girl.

    Kristen Simms served as the bride’s proxy.

    The bridegroom’s father and his brother, Matthew Brewer, served as best men.

    Groomsmen were Jeffery Chaney, Dan Confait, Win Moore, Stephen Nicholson, Alan Rigdon and Ben Scott.

    Jacob Leake, nephew of the bridegroom, carried the rings on a hand-made pillow custom designed by a family friend of the bride.

    Jamie Renee Chaney and Anna Kate Dickson greeted guests with programs.

    Following the ceremony, the bride’s parents hosted a reception at The Gathering Place on historic Front Street in downtown Meridian. Guest enjoyed the fabulous jazz music of “Carey Smith and Friends.”

    On the eve of the wedding, the bridegroom’s parents hosted a rehearsal dinner at the Welcome Center of First Baptist Church, Meridian.

    Following a honeymoon to St. Lucia, the couple resides in Meridian.

    The bride is attending graduate school at the University of Southern Mississippi and the bridegroom is employed by the Lauderdale County School System.
