Besides his many friends, scores have heard Jack speak at gatherings throughout the area at meetings of civic groups, church gatherings and other groups seeking professional development, motivational guidance, team building and similar goals.

Jack has been an outdoors person all his life, a natural result of the woodsmen and women in his life including his relatives and friends. The outdoors is an important enhancement to a well rounded life of service to and interest in others. This involvement in the natural world is evident throughout his new book.

The inspiration

“A Better Man” was written after encouragement from a gentleman from my church,” said Mayatt. “He encouraged me to write down the stories I used when speaking because one day I would not be able to remember them. I was also encouraged by a letter that was written by my grandfather. Also I wanted my children to have a clear understanding of what my father taught me, dealing with the outdoors, how to be a better man and my thought process dealing with everyday life.”

The book is a series of stories that are certain to inspire a man to be better. The stories have a Christian base and include many references to the Bible. Women will want to own the book to expand their knowledge of relationships with men and more significantly give the book to the men in their lives. What woman would not want their man to be better and what man would not want to better themselves?

Jack, with constant help and support from his wife, Jana, is involved with other aspects of the outdoors. This fall he will appear on the Pursuit Channel’s,

Great Day Outdoors as a guest of Paul Meeks, founder of API tree stands. He has partnered with East Texas Seed Company in marketing Rack King Brand Seed, a mixture for food plots that yields healthier deer, turkey and other game and non game animals.

Dog lovers

The Mayatts raise AKC registered Labrador retrievers with their current puppies being ready for sale by Christmas.

At every turn Jack is in tune with the hunter/businessman of our area and his book reflects the aspirations and life experiences of most men of our times.
