Dr. Mark Yeager was the speaker for the May meeting of the Earnest Workers’ Circle of Kings Daughters and Sons, International. He is the Director of TEAAM (Together Enhancing Autism Awareness in Mississippi), which is the state-based autism organization. He showed the film made for Mississippi Roads by Kamp Kaleidoscope, which is a summer camp for children with autism spectrum disorder. This is the only camp of this kind in the country and is located in Mississippi. At the present time, facilities are leased for this camp, but TEAAM has acquired property in Smith County on which to build permanent facilities. This will greatly expand the camp to provide access for a larger group of children and adults.

    At the close of his presentation, the Circle presented Dr. Yeager with a check for $30,000 for TEAAM. This will be used to build the first six tree houses on the recently acquired property. Each tree house will accommodate six persons.

    For the past three years Autism Awareness has been an on-going project for the Earnest Workers’ Circle. Their first project was the establishment of the Autism Support Group in cooperation with Rush Hospital, where the group meets. This was before most people had ever heard of the Autism Syndrome. The circle has worked tirelessly to bring attention to this disorder. They continue to cooperate with TEAAM to provide for these children and adults who have for so long been overlooked.
