Ruth Johnston McLelland

 

    Services for Ruth Johnston McLelland will be held on Tuesday at 11:30 am at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. John Brock Sr.

officiating.  Burial will be in Meridian Memorial Park Cemetery with James F. Webb Funeral in charge of arrangements.   

     Mrs. McLelland, age 92, died Saturday,  September 3, 2010 at Methodist Le Bonheur Hospital in Germantown, Tennessee.  She was the widow of George Wilson McLelland, Sr. Mrs. McLelland was a long-time member of Oakland Heights Baptist Church, now Oak Hill Baptist, where she served at various times as Church Secretary, Church Treasurer, Church Clerk, Sunday School Secretary, and Training Union Secretary and Treasurer.  She was secretary for Dr. Joe S. Covington for 21 years.

     She is survived by one son, George W. McLelland, Jr., of Meridian, and one daughter,

Eunice McLelland Pate and her husband Murray of Terre Haute, Indiana.  She leaves behind  five  grandchildren: George Joseph McLelland, Richard James McLelland, Angela McLelland Baker, all of Louisville, Kentucky; Lauren Suzanne Pate, of Collierville, Tennessee, and Steven Johnston Pate of Chicago.  She is survived by one sister, Doris Johnston McAllister of Tallahassee, Florida and several nieces and nephews.

    Visitation will be Monday, from 5 – 7 pm at the funeral home.
