    Here’s a look at upcoming events at local and area public, private and parochial schools:

    • Today – St. Patrick Catholic School registration for the 2010-11 school year, from 10 a.m.-4 p.m., for Pre-K-sixth grades.

    • Today-Friday – Lauderdale County School District registration for the 2010-11 school year for students who have not previously registered. Registration is from 8 a.m.-noon on each respective campus:

    – Clarkdale Attendance Center, Grades K-12

    – Northeast Lauderdale High School, Grades 9-12

    – Southeast Elementary, Grades K-4

    – West Lauderdale Elementary/Middle/High, Grades K-12

    All new students who do not register during the designated times will not be allowed to register until Aug. 7

    • Aug. 3 – Newton County High School registration confirmation for grades ninth-12, from 1 p.m.-6 p.m., on campus. Students must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. This time is set aside for schedule pickup and the receipt of subject area test scores. 

    • Aug. 5 – Newton County Elementary Registration Day, from 1 p.m.-6 p.m., at the elementary campus. Students must be accompanied by parents/guardians,

    • Aug. 6 – Newton County Middle School Open House for students in grades sixth-eight, from 1 p.m.-6 p.m. Students must be accompanied by their parent/guardian and will be able to pick up schedules, MCT II test scores and meet their teachers.

    • Aug. 9 – First day of classes, Newton County School District.

    Here’s a look at upcoming events at Meridian Community College:

    • July 26-30 – Soccer Camp, from 8 a.m.-noon, MCC soccer field.

     Here’s a look at upcoming events at East Central Community College:

    • Aug. 13 –Orientation for new and transfer students. Fall classes begin Aug. 19.
