Graveside services for Betty Jean Coker will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at Coker’s Chapel with the Revs. Roy Dabbs and Paul Roller officiating with Robert Barham Family Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Coker, 80, of Vimville, died Tuesday, July 6, 2010, at Anderson Regional Medical Center. She was a retired licensed practical nurse and was employed with Anderson Regional Medical Center. Mrs. Coker will be remembered as a beloved mother to her children and grandmere’ to her grandchildren.
Survivors include her daughters, Beverly C. Ray and her husband Charlie and Suzy Horne and her husband, Steve, all of Meridian; grandchildren, Christopher Coker Schwan of Huntsville, Ala., Lauren Horne of Meridian, Tommy Horne of Fayetteville, N.C., Hunter Horne, Tommie Lawrence Coker and Ashley Roberts, all of Meridian; brothers, Raymond Moore and his wife Rowena and Sonny Moore and his wife Addie Mae, all of Meridian; numerous nieces and nephews; daughter-in-law, Cynthia Roberts and her husband, Ricky, of Meridian; brother-in-law, Billy Coker and his wife, Edna, of Meridian; and sister-in-law, Hazel Marshall of Alexandria, Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie Coker; son, Lawrence Thomas Coker; brothers, Melvin Moore and Bill Moore; sisters, Elsie Smith and Clarice Griffis; sister-in-law; Jean Landrum; and niece, Carolyn Brown.
The family requests memorials be made to Coker’s Chapel United Methodist Church or The American Cancer Society.
Pallbearers will be Chris Schwan, Tommy Horne, Hunter Horne, Tommie Coker, Mike Landrum, Donnie Smith, Ronald Moore, Raymond Moore and Kenny Griffis.
