Premier Fabrics isn’t the only place where you can get a bolt of printed upholstery in Meridian — but it is the most unique.

The new store, which opened March 1 near the Save Rite grocery store on North Frontage Road, is part of a Mississippi-based, family-owned business called Premier Prints, Inc.. The company creates custom furniture and prints fabrics, often using their own pattern designs.

Premier Prints was founded in Tupelo in 1991, and grew to have four locations — a warehouse in Sherman, and stores in Jackson, Germantown, Tennessee and Meridian — with around 100 employees.

Carol Brady, manager of the Meridian store, said Premier Prints chose to open a store here because they saw that the market for custom fabrics was completely unfilled here.

The economy, Brady said, hasn’t stopped the new store from doing well — and she helped several customers, including some from Washington D.C. and Virginia, as she spoke with The Meridian Star.

Along with custom printed fabrics in their own patterns, Premier Fabrics makes custom furniture, bedding, drapes, tablecloths, baby bedding, indoor/outdoor cushions and more.

“Just about anything you can think of to do with fabric, we can pretty much do it,” Brady said. She said Premier Prints prints cotton and linen fabrics, but that the stores offer other fabrics printed by other companies as well.

They sell fabric by itself, use it to create custom furniture, or create furniture using fabric purchased elsewhere.

The Meridian Store is full of color, with fabrics ranging from vibrant pink and green patterned cottons to soft, simple, earth toned linens. Whether your style is modern or traditional, whimsical or muted, Premier Fabrics is likely to have something that will appeal to your taste.

In addition to yards upon yards of eye-catching fabrics, the store features a variety of chairs and ottomans already upholstered with custom prints. They have children’s furniture with fun prints, ottomans that fold out into extra chairs, revolving arm chairs, and bean bag chairs alongside simpler pieces of upholstered furniture and pillows.

The store is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. They will have an 18 percent off sale from now through July 3.
