    JONESBORO, Ga. – Funeral services for Peggy Gant will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Ford-Stewart Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Irvin Pearre officiating. Burial will be in Sherwood Memorial Park with Ford-Stewart Funeral Home in charge of arrangements.

    Mrs. Gant, 80, of Jonesboro, died Wednesday, June 23, 2010. She was a cherished and loved person who thought of others first. She was a member of The First Baptist Church of Jonesboro.

    She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law; Randy and Paula Gant of Jonesboro; grandchildren, Brandi (Lee) Smith of Jonesboro, Jay R. Gant of Jonesboro and J.P. Gant III of New Mexico; great-grandchildren, Lana Joy Smith and Madison L. Smith; and sister, Martha Washam of Huntersville, N.C.

    She was preceded in death by her husband of 61 years, J.P. Gant, to whom she was a caregiver for the last 25 years of his life; and her son, J.P. Gant Jr.
