- Star of The Week: Rukiyah Dreama Muhammad-Brown
The tooth fairy has been making quite a few visits to the home of 6-year-old Rukiyah Dreama Muhammad-Brown.
Rukiyah has lost four teeth in recent weeks – first a top one, which prompted visits from two tooth fairies.
“I got $5 from one, and $6 from another one,” she said.
According to her mother, Jamilah, the two visits were probably due to Rukiyah trying not to go to sleep that night.
“Her brother, Muraad, told her that if she stayed up all night, she would get $8 from the tooth fairy,” she explained. “So she tried to do it – and I guess the tooth fairies got mixed up and left money in two places under her pillow.”
For her second tooth loss, Rukiyah received $5, and $1 for a third one. Disappointed by her smaller money amounts, Rukiyah almost took matters into her own hands.
“I was gonna’ knock out one of my top ones because I got more money (for the top teeth),” Rukiyah said.
This past Saturday, she lost a fourth tooth – from the top. And though the tooth fairy did not disappoint, Rukiyah is a little concerned about the tooth.
“I don’t know how the tooth fairy got it ’cause I think my dog ate it,” she said.
Nonetheless, with her money she went to lunch and to see a movie – “The Tooth Fairy,” of course.
“It was funny,” she said, her wide smile showing her missing two front teeth and the two spaces among her bottom ones.
“Oh, she’s proud of them,” said her mother. “She’s really putting on the lip gloss to make them more noticeable.”
And with her multi-color painted nails, colorful outfits and bubbly personality, it’s hard not to notice Rukiyah, who would like to someday be a hairdresser.
“They do a lot of pretty hair on people,” she said.
Rukiyah leads an active social life that includes playing with her friends and her dog, Pablo, painting, dancing, cheerleading, drawing with chalk, listening to music, shopping with her mother and daddy dates with her father, Shawn Brown.
She attends kindergarten at Oakland Heights Elementary School.
