Two plead guilty to killing 65-year-old

    Two men have been sentenced on manslaughter charges in the beating death of a 65-year-old Meridian man.

    Authorities say Henry Curry was found unconscious on Sept. 3 by officers responding to a reported assault. Curry died at a Meridian hospital several days later.

    Toboris Sanchez Tamayo, 23, and 27-year-old Marquis McNeely each pleaded guilty to manslaughter in Lauderdale County Circuit Court.

    Tamayo was sentenced by Judge Lester Williamson Jr. to five years in prison and five years probation. McNeely was sentenced to 10 years in prison.

    Curry, 65, of 1827 29th Ave., was found unconscious at 3107 17th St. Curry was taken to a Meridian hospital where he was receiving treatment for his injuries. He died as a result of those injuries Sept. 13.

    An autopsy was performed in which it was revealed Curry died of blunt force trauma and multiple skull fractures.

    It is not known at this time what kind of weapon was used in the attack.
