GREENVILLE (AP) — Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson says Greenville residents shouldn’t be concerned about the city’s brown-colored tap water if it’s being tested regularly.

Jackson says the color isn’t a health issue. Jackson said the city’s water quality is high, but there are some issues related to runoff and past contamination.

Her comments came Saturday during a visit to Mississippi that also included a stop at Jackson State University for an environmental justice conference and panel discussion.

The Delta Democrat Times reports that Jackson led a round-table discussion with regional mayors and later toured Greenville’s Toombs Alley water treatment plant.
