Air National Guard Retiree Jerry Shields said Tuesday he will run for Lauderdale County District 3 Supervisor in the 2011 election. Shields ran against current District 3 Supervisor Craig Hitt in the 2007 primary election as a Republican.

Shields, 61, of Collinsville said he makes a point of following local government and decided to run because “I’m concerned about the waste of money that they’re doing and the way they do their business.”

Hitt said recently that he has not yet decided whether he will seek re-election in 2011.
