Two Lauderdale County men are currently facing burglary charges after they allegedly stole musical equipment and instruments from a community center.
Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun said Tuesday afternoon Jerry Trent Ellingburg, 19, of 3381 Bolen Long Creek Road, and Robert Austin Scribner, 18, of 1416 Will Wright Road, have each been charged with burglary. If convicted, each of the teens could be sentenced to up to seven years in prison.
Calhoun said LCSD authorities were notified Nov. 10 of an alleged burglary at the Grand Oaks Blue Grass and Gospel Hall located on Causeyville Whynot Road in southeastern Lauderdale County. Investigators noted musical equipment and instruments were reportedly taken from the community center that specialized in live music.
“In so many of these types of cases we rely a great deal on citizen’s tips and this one was no exception,” said Calhoun. “The tip we needed came through a person in the county via Crime Stoppers.”
Ellingburg and Scribner were taken into custody Tuesday at their respective homes. Calhoun said investigators have recovered all of the equipment and instruments reported stolen. He said the items were said to have been hidden in two different locations away from the suspects’s homes.
The case will be presented to the March Lauderdale County grand jury for consideration.
