Hollingsworth wins Fall Classic at Whynot

“Right foot” Ronnie Lee Hollingsworth of Northport, Ala., held off all challengers once he regained the lead on lap 29 to pick up the biggest win of his young career and the $15,000 top prize at the 15th annual Fall Classic Saturday night at Whynot Motorsports Park.
Hollingsworth jumped out to the early lead until Neil Baggett of Shannon wrestled away the lead on lap 10. Hollingsworth would regain the lead on lap 29. “Mr. Smooth” Billy Moyer of Batesville, Ark., worked his way to the front from 10th and had the lead by a nose on lap 48 as the caution came out giving the lead back to Hollingsworth. Hollingsworth led it the rest of the way with “Dangerous” Dane Dacus of Lakeland, Tenn., taking second, Moyer third, David Gentry of Lewisburg, Tenn., rising from 24th to finish fourth and North Carolina’s Ray Cook fifth.
“This is awesome” Hollingsworth said. “To win this race with the competition here this weekend is just awesome”.
Hollingsworth became the 12th straight different winner of the race.
Fast qualifier Friday night was Cook with a 13.693 over a stellar field of 60 Super Late Models.
B main winners were, Klint Byars, Billy Moyer Jr. and Gentry.
“Iron” Mike Boland of Cuba, Ala., took the lead in lapped traffic with 10 laps to go in winning the Crate Late Model feature. Jim McDuffie finished second, Scott Knowles third, Justin McRee fourth and Wiley Williams fifth.
Crate Late Model B main winners were Randy Boyd and Jay Burchfield.
Trey Bright of Northport, Ala., won the Street Stock feature with Jeffery Walker second, Randy King third, Michael Williams fourth and Artis Bunyard fifth.
Street Stock B main winners were Rickey Russell and Jonathan Moore.
King took the lead midway through the race and held off “The Bossman” Rodney Wing to take the Open Wheel Modified feature.
In the stinger feature it was Brandon Leftwich taking the win. Andy Taylor finished second, Tim Dee third, Chris Woodham fourth and Gerald Ladner fifth.
Johnny Pearson won the Kajun Mini Stock feature over second place J.C. Pearson, Thomas Turberville third, Dewayne Thompson fourth and Jennifer Shelton fifth.
On Friday night Johnny Pearson took the Pure Stock feature win with Terry Arnsdorff second, Wayne Buckalew third, Logan Hembree fourth and John Logan fifth.
