In today’s economy, many workplaces have instituted hiring freezes.

But one insurance company is doing just the opposite – they’re having a hiring spree.

Liberty National insurance is looking to interview 300 people for sales positions in Meridian on Wednesday. Nationwide, the company aims to hire 15,000 to 20,000 new workers.

Troy Dew of Liberty National in Meridian, said the company has recently opened its third office in Meridian and is looking to expand even more. He said there is no experience required to interview for the jobs – applicants need only be 18 years or older and have a high school diploma or equivalent.

The company has held job recruitment events before. In March, they interviewed 67 people in Meridian, taking applications from 51. At that event, advance appointments were required – but on Wednesday appointments will not be needed. Dew said he hopes not requiring appointments will enable the company to conduct more interviews.

The event will be held at the Northeast Inn and Conference Center on Hwy. 11/80 across from Applebee’s with interviews at 9 a.m., noon, 3 p.m., and 6 p.m. People who cannot attend can still inquire about a job by calling (601)483-5342 or e-mailing BM042@libnat.com.
