The Web site for Local 18 of the International Association of Machinists calls for members to support an imminent strike that was due to begin at 12:01 a.m. today.
About 250 machinists voted Saturday to strike after rejecting a contract with a Madison-based company that provides aircraft maintenance for Naval Air Station Meridian.
A spokesperson for L3 Vertex Aerospace will continue to provide aircraft maintenance at the base and that workers not represented by IAM are expected to be at work today.
Union members and the company have been negotiating for several weeks but could not reach an agreement on a three-year contract.
A spokesperson for NAS Meridian said the Navy remains neutral on all collective bargaining processes.
