LORMAN, Miss. (AP) — Alcorn State University President George Ross says reductions in state support mean the school may reduce classes and eliminate courses to save money.

Ross says changes are likely to come during the summer semester.

State spending cuts ordered by Gov. Haley Barbour cost Alcorn State about $1.23 million.

Ross says he expects less money again this year as lawmakers deal with reduced revenue.

Alcorn State currently offers 98 degrees.

Since the university is only in the analysis stage, Ross said no decisions have been made yet. However, he did say the Natchez and Vicksburg campuses are also being looked at.

Ross says his goal to save money without sacrificing the overall academics at Alcorn State.
