Local Green Bay Packer Jake Allen to host youth event

WAYNESBORO – Local sports celebrity and Green Bay Packer wide receiver Jake Allen and other sports celebrities will host the premiere of the Annual Jake Allen Youth Sportsfest.

Set for March 6-7 on the Wayne County High School campus, the goal of the event is to encourage kids to get physically and academically fit. Special awards will be given to kids achieving A/B honor roll. Throughout the two-day event, fans will have opportunities to get autographs and take pictures with the celebrities. All area schools and kids are encouraged to participate.

Allen, who currently resides in the Green Bay area, is a graduate of Wayne County High School and was a football star at Mississippi College. He plays for Green Bay and has enlisted the support of the following celebrities for the Youth Sportsfest, with more to be added as travel plans are confirmed:



• Danny Lansannah, LB, Green Bay Packers

• Donald Lee, TE, Green Bay Packers

• Kregg Lumpkin, RB, Green Bay Packers



The two-day event will kick off on March 6 with a Celebrity Basketball Game and Silent Auction at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, a Youth 1.5 Mile Cross Country Run/Walk will begin at 9 a.m. All ages and fitness levels are encouraged to participate; parents and teachers are

invited to join in the fun. All area schools are invited to participate and win $250.

Later that day at 1 p.m., free youth football and cheer camps will be presented for grades first-eight. Enrollment is limited to 150 for the football camp and 50 for the cheer. Applications will be accepted on a first-come basis.
