Citizen’s National Bank next to Hardees was robbed by a lone suspect making this incident the seventh bank robbery in the city this year.

Meridian Police Department detectives are searching for the suspect, said to be a black male who was wearing a black coat with a light colored vest. The suspect was not wearing a mask and authorities are currently interviewing witnesses inside the bank and reviewing video tape to try and get a more accurate picture of the suspect.

MPD Det. Sgt. Steven “Chad” Johnson said at about 1:30 p.m. the suspect walked into the bank, approached a teller and demanded money.

“He did not produce a weapon,” said Johnson.

The suspect fled east on foot. Patrolmen searched the area for almost two hours without making contact with the suspect.
