Kindergarten and first grade students at Enterprise Elementary School recently participated in JumpStart’s Read for the Record. This nationwide initiative is conducted to raise awareness of the importance of early childhood education by setting a world record for the greatest number of children reading with an adult on this particular date. The book chosen for the occasion this year was the all-time favorite “Corduroy” by Don Freeman. So Corduroy agreed to come and read to the school’s students. This year’s campaign surpassed its goal of 400,000 children participating. Shown are students from Holly Turner and Amanda Richardson’s first grade class, and Corduroy The Bear, who came together to celebrate the power of reading.
