Services for James M. “Papaw” Wilson will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at James F. Webb Funeral Home Chapel with the Revs. Gregory Joiner and Hal Bates officiating. Burial will be in Collinsville Baptist Church Cemetery.

Mr. Wilson, of Meridian, died Wednesday, Oct. 15, 2008, at Beverly Living Center in Meridian. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and served as a gunners mate in World War II. He retired from East Mississippi Electric Power Association in 1985 where he made lasting friendships throughout Lauderdale County. He was born in 1921 in Opelika, Ala.

Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Mary; daughters, Dana Hamilton and Lynn Joiner and her husband, Jackie D.; grandchildren, Steven James Hamilton and his wife, ReneƩ, Angelia Austin and her husband, Nathan, Lenny D. Joiner and his wife, Vonda Kaye, and Gregory L. Joiner; five great-grandchildren; special niece, Brenda Cummings and her husband, Harold; special nephews, Jerry Wayne Vinson and his wife, Pat, Mark Vinson, Richard Gammill and his wife, Barbara; Charles A. Gammill and his wife, Jeannie and Gene Smith; a sister-in-law, Alma Galloway and his dog, Cricket.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jessie Wilson and sisters, Jessie Vinson and Gladys Bullette.

Pallbearers will be Steve Hamilton, Lenny Joiner, Greg Joiner, Nathan Austin, William Newton and Harold Cummings.

Honorary pallbearers will be Rush Shumate, Leon Pippin and Red C.C. Gore.
