Lakeview shamble this weekend

Leave it to Lakeview Golf Course and Richie Camp to come up with a novel idea in putting on a golf tournament.
Saturday and Sunday, Lakeview will host the Summer Three-man Shamble. For those who’ve never played in a shamble, you are in for a treat.
A shamble is when all three players tee off and much like in the scramble format, everyone plays their second shot from the spot of the best tee shot. From there it gets really interesting.
The players play their own shots from the best tee shot throughout the hole and the top two scores are taken out of the three players and totaled up. Each hole’s par number is doubled so a par four, for example, is a par eight. If one player gets a birdie and the next lowest score is a par, then they’ve just totaled a seven for the par eight hole — a birdy.
“This format is a lot of fun,” said Camp. “It’s just a different twist on the scramble.”
Entry fee is $180 per team. Deadline for teams to enter will be 8 a.m. Saturday. The fee also includes a chicken dinner on Saturday
and a Boston butt meal for Sunday. Beverages are free as is cart usage. The shotgun start will be at 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. depending on the number of teams who sign up.
The main prizes will be gift certificates of $750 for first place, $450 for second place and $300 for third place in each flight. Prizes will also be given away for closest to the pin on all par 3s.
“We hope golfers in the area will embrace this new format and give it a try,” said Camp. “We also hope this will be the start of a tradition of shambles at the Lakeview Golf Course that we can host each and every year.”
