U.S. 11 Antique Alley returns this week

U.S. 11 Antique Alley is not your usual yard sale. At 502 miles long, this one takes up a bit more space than the average yard.
The huge roadside festival, which stretches from Meridian to Bristol, Va. along U.S. Highway 11, will take place May 15-18 this year.
Because of ever-climbing gas prices, the festival is asking vendors to give all customers a 10 percent discount in hopes of offsetting fuel costs for customers who want to travel highway 11 for the event.
Vendors at the event will include everything from antique dealers to roadside yard sales. The event will also include food vendors, and is meant to be an “opportunity for folks to do what they like to do best, and that’s to get off the interstate and take the old roads,” according to the event’s Web site.
The route will cover Meridian, Kewanee, Russell, and Toomsuba in Mississippi, and will continue along highway 11 through Birmingham, Ala., Dade County, Ga., Chattanooga and Knoxville, Tenn., and Bristol, Va.
Each town along highway 11 is responsible for organizing its own versions of the event.
