Celebrity fun isn’t for everybody

A lot of folks have these celebrity look-a-like features on their myspace profiles.
It’s where a person has their picture posted and it’s surrounded by these beautiful people all celebrities who resemble the myspace profiler.
You can have this done at www.myheritage.com. You just upload a photo of yourself and you are matched to several people who have the same face-type as you.
There were a lot of things I needed to do Sunday afternoon that I didn’t feel like doing, so I did the celebrity look-a-like thing instead.
My first match was Steven Spielberg. It was surprising on one hand because I never thought I looked like Steven Spielberg. It wasn’t surprising on the other hand because everyone else seems to think I do look like him, especially when I’m wearing a cap. Many times in various cities at large gatherings total strangers will point at me and yell back to their friends: “Hey Steven Spielberg is here!” Or: “Look, it’s Steven Spielberg!”
Other look-a-likes that were spit out for me included Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry, 007 actor Pierce Brosnan (that resemblance is obvious), and Charles Manson.
I’m like … why would they even have Charles Manson in their bank of celebrities to be matched to people unless they just wanted to hurt ME!
Now, you can put different pictures of yourself in there and get different results, believe me, I tried.
I got several hits on Spielberg and Brosnan, but also Barack Obama, Friedrich Nietzsche, Mexican revolutionary Emiliano Zapata and Alfred Hitchcock, which bothered me more than being compared to Charles Manson, so I went with my first effort. I posted it at www.myspace.com/meridian360.
Don’t be Hayden Haydn
A headline we had in the newspaper earlier this week might have caused some confusion among music fans. We ran a correction, but in case you missed it, we spelled the late classical music composer Franz Joseph Haydn’s last name with an “e” in it in the headline of a story, which had his last name spelled correctly in the actual article.
The article promoted this Saturday’s performance of The Meridian Symphony Orchestra, MSO Chorus, Mississippi State University Chamber Singers and guest soloists doing Haydns The Creation at the MSU Riley Center at 8 p.m. More info can be found in today’s Hot Ticket listing.
Haydn lived from 1732-1809, not to be confused with Hayden, the folk rock artist currently on tour with Feist. In fact, they are booked at The Tabernacle in Atlanta this Friday.
Learn more about Hayden at www.hardwoodrecords.com., or at www.myspace.com/hayden.
Learn more about Haydn and hear some of his work online through Wikipedia and his myspace profile at www.myspace.com/haydnofficial.
